Collie Golf Club has received rave reviews from visitors, who have described it as an outstanding layout and the best inland course in Western Australia.

We are confident you will love it too!

Located in the quiet community of Collie in the picturesque Collie River Valley, high in the hills an easy two hours drive south of Perth, Collie Golf Club features an 18-hole fully reticulated course characterised by lush fairways and fast grass greens, set in the middle of a forest and bordered by the beautiful Collie River.

We are very proud of the quality of our golf course, and we love playing it. We are sure that, like so many visitors who come here year after year, you will love it too. And at just $25 for nine holes and $35 for 18, it is also outstanding value.

Playing the beautiful eighth hole, alongside the Collie River

The par 72, 6004 metre layout provides a challenge for all golfers, and even members who have played two or three times a week for decades never get bored with it. However, it is not the kind of layout that makes the average golfer wobbly at the knees - it is simply a good, testing, yet always enjoyable golf course, as evidenced by the many groups from Perth public and private courses who visit Collie year after year to play.

The Club welcomes all visitors, who are assured of an interesting experience in negotiating the relatively generous, tree lined fairways, the superb and fast grass greens, and the many right to left dog-legs, far outnumbering the left to rights - leading many members to voice the opinion that the course was designed by a left-hander. And although there are few hazards, those that exist can trip up the unwary. The handful of bunkers can be difficult to get out of, the river lining the third and eighth fairways ruins many a scorecard - under no circumstances mention the word 'river' while your playing partner is standing on the third or eighth tee - while the notorious pond on 16 swallows hundreds of balls in winter, balls lost until the pond dries out in summer. And do try to stay on or near the fairway - otherwise you will be faced with lots of trees, lots of bush, and lots of tricky recovery shots. That is, if you find your ball.

For all of that, we really love our course. We are confident that you will love it too.

Kangaroos have become accustomed to sharing their domain with golfers.

But when the golf doesn't go to plan, as is often the case, golfers can still enjoy the abundance of flora and fauna, including the many kangaroos who have made the course their home.

The kangaroos are not only popular with golfers. In recent years international, camera wielding tourists have been making a beeline for the fairways in order to get up close and personal with the national emblem. The course is recommended as a 'must see' by tourist operators in the area due to the guarantee that if you want to see kangaroos, we can guarantee that you'll see kangaroos. In fact, you'll sometimes see them gathered in mobs of 30 to 40 - often on the tenth fairway, right in front of the bar.

When it comes to flora, Christmas trees add vibrant colour to the course, particularly when in full bloom during spring, standing out against the natural bush vegetation, while spring also sees an abundance of wildflowers, including almost countless varieties of orchids.

Teeing off on the fifth hole, right in front of the clubhouse

Visitors and members alike can make use of the excellent clubhouse facilities before and after golf. The licensed bar and outdoor deck are ideal spots to sit and talk about the trials and tribulations of a round well (or not so well) played - indeed, we may not be blessed with a sweeping ocean or mountain panorama, but we still believe the deck outside the bar has the best view of any golf clubhouse in Australia. Grab yourself the corner table and settle in for the afternoon, because from there you can see golfers teeing off on the first hole, putting out on the fourth, teeing off - a couple of metres from you - on the fifth and playing almost all the way to the hole 394 metres away, approaching and putting out on the sixth, playing down the fairway and putting out on the ninth, teeing off on the tenth - again, a few metres from you - and playing down some 300 metres until they disappear round the dogleg, and finally, approaching and putting out on the 18th. From that single vantage point you can watch people playing on seven holes, as well as taking in the beautiful flora and fauna, and there really is no clubhouse view like it in Australia.

The clubhouse is also ideal for private functions, featuring a large lounge and dance floor area, and is used throughout the year for weddings, parties, anything - even wakes.

So come and visit soon. If you enjoy the thrill and cameraderie of big tournaments, the Summer Open (a Stableford event held in early December) and Riverside Open (a Stableford event held in mid-March) are the club's two open events, attracting fields of up to 200 players from throughout Western Australia. But if you just want to play a round on what we genuinely believe to be Western Australia's best country golf course, come down and play socially at any time, join us for our regular Saturday,Tuesday or Thursday competition, or if you are a lady, Saturday, Wednesday or Thursday. We are an easy couple of hours from Perth, and you are always welcome.

YES, YOU ARE ALWAYS WELCOME AT THE COLLIE GOLF CLUB
